Pilatus PC 9 engaged in search for missing hot air balloon near Palagruza
Based on the requirement of the National Centre for Search and Rescue from Rijeka for search of wider area around Palagruza, which was received today, Thursday, 30 September 2010, about 14 hours, because of the information that the specified hot air balloon disappeared with two people in the area of Palagruza Island, the Pilatus PC 9 aircraft of the Coast Guard was involved in the search action near Palagruza.
State Secretary Simunovic thanked for previous support of Germany, especially during Croatia’s accession to NATO, and support within the international peacekeeping mission ISAF in Afghanistan. Also, Simunovic introduced the present with the tasks of the CAF in the country which, inter alia, include assistance to civilian population in case of natural disasters, focusing on the involvement of members of the Croatian Armed Forces in defence against the recent floods in Zagrebacka and Sisacko-moslavacka County.
Lieutenant General Glatz thanked for Croatian contribution to the ISAF mission, and stressed that members of the Croatian Armed Forces have been well known for their high level of professionalism.
