Poll on NATO
On the eve of first anniversary of Croatian accession to NATO, the poll showed a stable support for membership in the Alliance and Croatian involvement in international operations, as announced by the GfK Agency.
High 64.6% of respondents feel more secure in Croatia as a NATO member country, especially people from Slavonia and Dalmatia. 50.2% of respondents, people with higher education 61%, think that membership in NATO have increased reputation and strengthen the international position of Croatia.
Engagement of the international community in the NATO led ISAF mission supports 68.3% of respondents, among who people aged 25-34 years support it 78%. At the same time, 54.1% of respondents believe that Croatian participation in NATO missions under a UN mandate contributes to strengthening its security and international position.
As for the importance of NATO role in the region, 62.6% of respondents feel that NATO and its reception of new members are important for security and stability of Southeast Europe.
Public opinion survey commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on the occasion of first anniversary of Croatian membership in NATO, was conducted in February 2010 on the representative sample of 750 respondents (county, education, age and sex).
