President appointed Major General Dragutin Repinc as new Army Commander
Based on its constitutional and statutory powers Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, upon the proposal of the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Drago Lovric and with the consent of the Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic, has appointed Major General Dragutin Repinc as the Commander of the Croatian Army, and the appointment shall enter into force on 11 July 2011.
Major General Dragutin Repinc completed the Military Academy of the Army, Command and Staff College and Command and Staff School of the U.S. Army.
He has attended several different courses in the country and abroad. He held various positions within the Croatian Armed Forces, the most important among them were: advisor for operations and wartime planning in the operational zone Zagreb, Commander of Officer’s School, Chief of Staff of the Croatian Army and Chief of Planning Directorate at the General Staff.
He was the course leader of the “Operational skills and operations other than war” at the War College “Ban Josip Jelacic” and external consultant and editor of the military section of Croatian general encyclopedia.
He was awarded with several decorations, including the Order of Duke Branimir and Order of Ban Jelacic. Since 2005 to 2007 he was the Commander of the UN mission in India and Pakistan, and was the highest ranking Croatian officer in the UN missions.
