President Josipović visited CAF FF TF Divulje

Croatian President Ivo Josipović visited on 6 August 2012 the Croatian Armed Forces Fire-fighting Task Force (CAF FF TF) Command in the “Prince Trpimir” Barracks in Divulje near Split.

The President was welcomed by the Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations, Vice Admiral Zdenko Simičić, Commander of the Fire-fighting Task Force Major General Mate Obradović and Director of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate Jadran Perinić.

On this occasion, the Commander of the CAF FF TF Major General Mate Obradović met President Josipović with the results of the CAF engagement in this year’s fire-fighting season.

From 15 May to 5 August 2012, the CAF FF TF were involved in 154 fire sites, while at the same time last year they were involved in 66 different fire sites.

The Air Force had over 3728 flights and 622 flight hours, dropping a total of 18 105 tons of water. Most often they were engaged in Sibenik-Knin County (48 different interventions of the Air Force), and then in the Split-Dalmatia County (41 interventions) and Zadar County (34 interventions).

At the three fire site (the fire site Selce-Bribir and two interventions on the island of Mljet) were involved combined air and ground forces, while on the all remaining fire sites aerial fire-fighting forces were exclusively engaged (fire-fighting aircraft Canadair CL-415, Air Tractor AT-802A and AT-802F, and transport helicopters Mi-8 MTV1).

The proof that this fire-fighting season is the most challenging so far, is the fact that only during July 2012 the CAF FF TF was engaged on 118 different fire sites, while in July last year, which has a record number of interventions, was only 47 interventions of CAF FF TF.

After visiting the CAF FF TF Command, President Josipović also visited the Fire-fighting Operations Centre of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate.
