President Josipovic delivered a lecture on Croatian Military Academy

President of the Republic of Croatia and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Ivo Josipovic held today, 14 April 2011, in the Croatian Military Academy (HVU) “Petar Zrinski”, a lecture to students of highest levels of education on “Current state and perspectives of development of Croatia”.

President Josipovic was welcomed by Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Drago Lovric, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic and HVU Director Major General Mirko Sundov.

The lecture was attended by participants of the War College, Command and Staff College and by the HVU staff and teachers. President Josipovic in the lecture referred to the current political and economic situation in the Republic of Croatia, spoke about the reforms being implemented, and efforts to complete negotiations for accession to the EU. He noted that in the context of international integrations Croatian membership in NATO was a great and important accomplishment. Speaking about the economic development of Croatia, the President stressed that the armed forces may be one of its flywheels. In the conclusion the President summed up that Croatia is at a delicate moment of the completion of negotiations with the EU and stressed his optimism regarding the completion of negotiations and overcoming the economic crisis.

After the lecture, President Josipovic answered questions of students that were related to current social and political developments, fight against corruption and regional cooperation.

After the lecture President Josipovic visited the exhibition “10 years of Zrinski Guard Cakovec” and exhibition of photographs on the participation of the Croatian Armed Forces’ members in peacekeeping missions / operations, and toured the publications of military-technical literature and magazines of Croatian Military Academy.
