President of the Republic visits 93rd Air Base
The President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on 5 April 2016 visited the 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence at the Zemunik Barracks, where she was welcomed by the Defence Minister Josip Buljević, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mirko Šundov, the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Brigadier General Miroslav Kovač and the commanders of the units based in the Barracks.
The stafl delivered a presentation on the planned activities and tasks featuring the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, particularly in the summer season with a prominent engagement of the firefighter forces, emergency medical flights and search-and-rescue actions.
The President expressed satisfaction over the visit to the Air Base, and over the preparations of the air forces for the firefighter season 2016 and commended the readiness of the combat component of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
The President met and talked with the pilots and the air technicians of the Base and expressed the appreciation for their constant contribution and commitment.
Ministar Buljević stressed that the 93rd Air Base was recognised at the national and the international levels. “The Base is the home to the Pilot School, which has earned the recognition from NATO and partner countries as a unit offering high potential on a variety of training programmes. This is where the Croatian military pilots are trained and build theif flying experience”, said the Minister.
