President of the Republic visits GS Operations Centre
The President of the Republic as Supreme Commander, visiting the General Staff’s Operations Centre on 1 January 2015 extended New Year’s wishes to the members of the Croatian Armed Forces deployed to international missions abroad (namely in Afghanistan, in Kosovo and in EU NAVFOR ATALANTA).
He was joined by the Defence Minister, Ante Kotromanović and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić, who extended their wishes for their parts.
“I am most glad to have visited the Croatian Armed Forces on the New Year’s Day and to have had the opportunity to talk to our commanders in the missions in Afghanistan, in Kosovo and in ATALANTA“, said President Josipović, who stressed that the Croatian citizens were proud of the Croatian peace missions participants and their commitment and efficiency and wished them safe return home.
The Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović informed that presently there were a total of 140 members of the Croatian Armed Forces deployed to the international missions. He gave an summary of the past year and announced the projects to be launched in the current year, such as the intensive training (requiring higher physical readiness), upgrading the living conditiond in the barracks and further and equipping and modernisation. Alaso, we have envisafed a new Defence Plan and a new organisation structure of the Ministry. The projects will be carried out utterly transparently and economically, following the best practice of the past years“ stated the Minister.
Congratulating the Croatian soldiers in the international peace support missions, the Chief of the General Staff, General Drago Lovrić recalled major achievements by the Croatian Armed Forces in the past year which would continue into 2015. “The year 2015 brings some new important missions which I am sure our Armed Forces will successfully complete, to the pride of the Croatian people“, said General Lovrić.
