“Grgur 2011” Exercise
Croatian Air Force and Air Defence with one Canadair CL-415, one Airtractor AT 802A/F and one helicopter MI-8 MTV-1, participated today, 12 May 2011, in the “Grgur 2011” exercise which was organized by the State Administration for Protection and Rescue (DZUS) and held on the island of Sv. Grgur in the archipelago of Rab Island in Primorsko-goranska County.
The exercise was organized in order to verify compliance of the land and air forces for fire extinguishing and to verify Plan of operational activities of fire-fighting forces in Primorsko-goranska County.
Canadair and air tractor exercised fire-extinguishing, helicopters were used to transport fire-fighters to the fire area, and the simulation of helicopter transport of injured firefighter to the hospital was exercised as well.
Exercise was rated successful and was an immediate verification of the readiness of ground and air forces for this year’s fire-fighting season that starts on May 15.
