“Jadran 12” interdepartmental exercise
Interdepartmental and inter-service exercise “Jadran 12” of the Central coordination for monitoring and protection of rights and interest at the sea was conducted on Friday, June 1, with the aim of the exercise to examine capabilities and efficiency of joint operations at sea.
“Today we showed what we train and exercise to protect the interests of the Republic of Croatia at the sea. Participants in the exercises very well performed what was asked from them, and coordination has been in real time”, the Commander of the Coast Guard, Captain Marin Stošić said. In addition to the Coast Guard forces, in exercise also participated representatives from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Agriculture, Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance and other government bodies involved in protection of the interests at the sea.
The aim of the “Jadran 12” exercise was exercising the prevention of smuggling people and goods by sea. It was done through several activities such as control of fishing boats, prevention of human trafficking and drugs and persecution of the ship who did not want to stop, search and rescue and marine pollution prevention, fire fighting on the ship, where good training and coordination of institutions responsible for monitoring and protecting the rights and interests at the sea was shown. “We are all cooperating with each other in a way that creates synergy. We are aware that none of us is self-sufficient” Stošić said, and noted that it was particularly important to know, that during the tourist season when the risks were higher because of increased sea traffic and number of vessels, we have forces that were ready to ensure a peaceful and safe season.
Shooting from the Coast Guard patrol boat Novigrad on moving target was conducted in the exercise, and Air Force and Special Operation Battalion also shown their capabilities.
The exercise was monitored by Deputy Chief of General Staff Vice Admiral Zdenko Simičić, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ante Urlić, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Brigadier General Dražen Šćuri and representatives of other ministries and government bodies involved in the exercises.
