“Shield 2011” exercise completed

Military exercise “Shield 2011” completed on Friday, 21 October 2011, at the test site “Rt Kamenjak” in Premantura. The final event, engagement of targets in the air with light portable missile systems “Strijela 2M” and “Igla” was attended by Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations, Rear Admiral Zdenko Simicic, commander of the Army Major General Dragutin Repinc and numerous other guests.

Admiral Simicic upon completion of “Shield 2011” said that this exercise at all levels fulfilled all goals, and pointed out and praised the discipline, responsibility and skill of all participants in the exercise. Also, Admiral Simicic especially expressed his satisfaction that this was an exercise conducted in compliance with all the high environmental standards and environmental protection measures on Rt Kamenjak.

Commander of the Army, Major General Dragutin Repinc congratulated everyone who participated in organizing and implementing of a successful exercise said “This is our largest, inter-service, joint exercises and it showed in the best way how much we are willing to carry out all tasks that are before us”.

“Shield 2011” exercise started on 17 October 2011, about 500 participants participated in it, members of the Air Defence Regiment, Air Defence Battalion of GOMBR, Support Command, Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Navy, NBC, the Military Police Regiment, Logistics Regiment, SOF, and the director of the exercise was Chief of Air Defence Regiment, Colonel Dragomir Govic.
