“Wings of Storm” in the Czech Republic

Aerobatic team “Wings of the Storm” took part at the CIAF 2012 International Aero Meeting in Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic on 8 and 9 September 2012.

The aero meeting was attended by 12 countries, with about 70 planes, and members of the “Wings of Storm” aerobatic team received the award for the best performance.

“Wings of the Storm” received the invitation from the Commander of the Czech Air Force, Brigadier General Jiri Verner. In its attractive and technically perfect 23-minute program the group performed 23 maneuvers. Among the manoeuvres, one must single out the formation of which they are unique in the world – “bell in the formation”, a negative delta, stall turn in formation and certainly Diu – triple mirror, besides them, a manoeuvre carried out only by the aerobatic team of the Brazilian Air Force. Along with those they performed a number of other highly demanding manoeuvres with negative load performed only by aerobatic teams who are at the top of the acrobatic flying in the world.
Reactions of the nearly 70 000 visitors have confirmed that the aerobatic team “Wings of Storm” took its rightful place among the world’s top aerobatic groups.

A demo pilot Captain Josip Čolak, who will next season be a new member of the “Wings of the Storm”, had an independent appearance on CIAF.
“Wings of Storm” leader Major Damir Barišić, who was a member of the aerobatic team since its establishment in 2004, had its last performance at the meeting in Hradec. He will be replaced by Major Matija Vrđuka.

On the static display visitors could see the CAF An-32 transport aircraft, and the aero meeting was also a great opportunity for the presentation of the host country Air Force.
