Reorganization of military diplomatic network
A new approach in the organization of military diplomatic network abroad will be implemented in the Ministry of Defence during 2012.
The planned reorganization process of military diplomatic network takes into account foreign policy conditions, such as membership in NATO and the completion of negotiations and soon EU membership, which creates prerequisites for the adjustments that take into consideration the real needs of the defence system. The impending reorganization will close some of the existing military diplomatic missions and will also establish a more efficient form of military diplomatic relations. The closing of military diplomatic missions will be carried out in coordination with bilateral partners and will not affect the quality and content of bilateral relations with these countries.
Through the model of appointment military attaches based in Zagreb, which would cover some of the countries, the intention is to maintain a dynamic, efficient and flexible, and above all rational system of bilateral defence relations. In this context, special emphasis will be placed on the ability to cover the countries with the potential for expanding and strengthening military-industrial cooperation, which includes and opens new possibilities for Croatian military industry.
The planned reorganization of the military diplomatic network coincides with the end of the regular term of eleven military attaches which further simplifies and rationalizes the whole process.
By the end of this year, the reorganization of military diplomatic network will produce budgetary savings.
