“SAVA STAR 2014” bilateral exercise ends in Slunj Range
The 10-day international Exercise “Sava Star 2014”, jointly conducted by the members of the 5th Battalion of the UK Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and the members of the “Vukovi” Battalion of the Guards Motorised Brigade of the Croatian Armed Forces
was concluded in the “Eugen Kvaternik” Training Range near Slunj on 1 September, with a final attack delivered as culmination of the preceding training and preparation.
The Exercise was held within the bilateral military co-operation framework for the second consecutive year, engaging 114 British and 52 Croatian soldiers.
“An important characteristic of the SAVA STAR Exercise is that it requires training and adaptation to an unfamiliar setting, and the terrain at the Croatian Training Range definitely offers one. We have had to adjust our tactics to the complex and tough terrain here, which has been facilitated by observing the Croatian troops and their tactics, and by their own adjustment to our tactics”, said the Exercise Director, Major Tony Hall of the “Fusiliers”.
Major Hall also praised the co-operation with the Croatian Armed Forces, which provided the UK trainees with all the necessary resources to conduct their training, and announced that it would be continued.
