State Secretary Simunovic attends regional meeting on Kosovo

State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic with the delegation attended on Friday, 4 November 2011, on the invitation of Minister for the Kosovo Security Force, Agim Ceku, the first Regional meeting of defence ministers, held in Pec in the Republic of Kosovo.

The meeting was attended by defence ministers or their representatives from Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia and Slovenia, as well as by representatives of the US EUCOM and NATO’s advisory team for the Kosovo security forces.
The meeting was opened by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifet Jahjaga and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.

The meeting was held under moto “Regional cooperation, integration and mutual strengthening of capabilities”, aiming to contribute to stability in the region. Participants expressed common commitment to intensify cooperation in the region, with special emphasis on the need for training and coordination capabilities to respond to the crisis. MOD State Secretary Simunovic confirmed the strong commitment of Croatia to regional cooperation, and stressed the need for cooperation aimed at concrete results.

On the sidelines of the meeting, State Secretary Simunovic held a bilateral meeting with the Minister for the Kosovo Security Forces Minister Agim Ceku, and with Admiral Mark C. Montgomery, Deputy Director for Plans, Policy and Strategy, of the US EUCOM.
