Survival, Escape, Rescue and Evasion Course held at Lučko
In co-operation with the United State Air Forces Europe – USAFE, the basics of the „Survival Escape Rescue and Evasion Course“ programme was presented to the the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence flying personnel in the „Lučko“ Barracks during February 2013.
The objective of the activity was to train the multi-role helicopter pilots and technicians of the 91st Air Base for international peace operations deployment and stand-by period within the declared NATO Force.
The pilots and technicians were familiarised with the Survival Escape Rescue and Evasion Programme and the NATO „Personal Recovery“ Doctrine to estimate the capabilities of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence in view of further capabilities acquisition required for participation in NATO-led operations.
The Course was conducted by the members of the 435th Contingency Response Group of the USAFE, presenting to the Croatian attendees (which included the members of the Special Operations Battalion of the Croatian Armed Forces) the principles of the NATO SERE and of the Personal Recovery system and the basic procedures to apply in the event of finding oneself isolated in the international military operations, as well as with the procedures performed by the rescuing force.
The Course opened the door for further co-operation on the matter. The Air Force and Air Defence capabilities for Personal Recovery will be valued as the basic capabilities comprised by the Force Goals.
