U.S. Ambassador at Croatian Military Academy

The Ambassasdor of the United States of America to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Kenneth Merten, visited on the Croatian Military Academy „Petar Zrinski“ in Zagreb on January 31 and delivered an address on “The United States Strategy and Foreign Politics following the Re-Election of the President Obama”.

The Ambassador was welcomed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, Lt. Gen. Drago Lovrić. The Address was attended by the Director of the Academy, Lt.Gen. Slavko Barić with the Academy staff, by the War School and the Command and Staff School students, as well as by the representatives of the U. S. Embassy to Croatia, of the Ministry of Defence and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and by the representatives of  the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The Address comprised five principal subjects:
– the US-Croatia defence and security co-operation,
– the U. S. politics within the global security framework,
– the economic security, the joint approach of the state administration bodies
– the civil-military relations.
The Ambassador  highlighted  repeatedly the excellent bilateral co-operation between the Republic of Croatia and the United States and stated that Croatia is an important partner of his country, which it is going to remain during the next four years and further on. The partnership between the two countries is developing and will successfully respond to future challenges of the international security as well. “ The United States  particularly appreciate“, said Ambassador Merten, „the contribution of the Republic of Croatia to NATO, to the international peace missions  and the A-5 Initiative“.
