Transfer of duty of Minister of Defence
After the Croatian Parliament, on the proposal of the Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, approved new members of the Government, including the new Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic, today, on Thursday, December 30, a transfer of duty of Minister of Defence has been made between Branko Vukelic and Davor Bozinovic.
Thanking the partners for successful cooperation, Branko Vukelic wished Minister Bozinovic a lot of success on his new duty. Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic, when assuming office, emphasized that he would continue to work to further the realization of necessary reforms in the Croatian Armed Forces. The ceremony was also attended by MOD state secretaries in the Ministry of Defence Zeljko Gorsic and Pjer Simunovic, by Secretary of the Ministry Petar Barac, Chief of General Staff General Josip Lucic, deputy chiefs of general staff Lieutenant General Slavko Baric and Rear Admiral Zdenko Simicic, and the Inspector General of Defence Lieutenant General Marijan Marekovic.
New Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic was previously appointed as Secretary of State for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and as a Special Envoy of the Prime Minister for Southeast Europe. In his professional career, among others, he was the Croatian Ambassador to NATO, Chief of the Office of the Croatian President, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Serbia and Montenegro and held a number of other diplomatic duties.
He has BA, MD and PhD in political science, from Faculty of Political Sciences in Zagreb.
