U.S. Ambassador visits Logistic Training and Doctrine Centre
The Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić, the Director of the General Staff OS RH Major General Mate Pađen, the Assistant Minister of Defence, Zoran Drča and the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Kenneth Merten
on 12 January 2015 visited the Logistic Training and Doctrine Centre in Požega to attend the closing day of training of Croatian instructors on MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles.
The visitors were presented the MET (MRAP Egress Trainer) simulator, complemented with the demonstration of the trainer operation, facilitated by the U.S.trainers. Upon the completion of the training, the U.S. team presented the Croatian instructors with the certificates; the simulator remains in the Centre for future use in the training of the MRAP drivers.
Following the presentation by the Centre’s Commander, Colonel Milan Čorak, the visitors observed the terrain use of the MRAP vehicles (donated to the Croatian Armed Forces by the U.S. in 2014) at the “Glavica“ Logistical Training Range. “The Croatian Armed Forces took over 212 high-quality armoured vehicles from the United States and we are very satisfied with the donation. Today we have seen the vehicles tested in different conditions, and this they constitute a significant contribution to our Armed Forces, particularly the 162 all-terrain vehicles“, stated General Lovrić.
Ambassador Merten appreciated the Croatian side for the partnership opportunity, as “Croatia is the United States’ key strategic partner, who is always there for us and ready to help“.
