The ceremony of the handover of the Small Arms Tactical Training Simulation (SATTS) system was held in the Barracks “Pukovnik Predrag Matanović” in Petrinja on 27 March 2017. The system is used in the training of infantry units and has been donated by the U.S. Total value of the system, including spares and training is app $1M.
The Croatian and U.S. delegations honouring the ceremony were headed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and the Ambassador of the U.S. to Croatia, H.E. Julieta Valls Noyes.
„I am convinced that the value and the importance of the donation far exceed its material worth, as it proves the excellent defence and security co-operation between Croatia and the United States as its strategic partner. It is one of the many donations from the United States which have enhanced the capabilities of our Armed Forces, both through the procurement of weapon systems and through joint exercises and training events. I also believe that the solid alliance will continue through joint contribution to the international security and stability.
Ambassador Valls Noyes emphasised the Republic of Croatia as a vital partner of the U.S., providing a major contribution to the international operations and as a stabilising subject in the region. Speaking about the donation of the SATTS, the Ambassador expressed the hope in the positive and visible impact on the combat readiness of the members of the Croatian Armed Forces, complementing their field exercises.
SATT is a virtual range, 10 line system, non life fire indoor range, consisting of 10 lanes used for individual and collective marksmanship training.
provide realistic, operationally-focused training, the military relies on a combination of live, virtual, and constructive training. It allows the application of several simulation programmes and simulated weapons and will be used mostly by the mechanised battalions “Tigar“ and “Grom“ of the Guards Mechanised Brigade of the Croatian Army, stationed in the Barracks.
The virtual training is used to hone individual and units skills in tactics, techniques, and procedures prior to live training and can be used to maintain soldier proficiency on weapons systems
The system will allow the Croatian Army to complement their live marksmanship and exercise training within the Petrinja Barracks without expending live ammunition throughout the year – regardless of weather conditions.
