U. S. Secretary of Defense to visit Croatia

After attending NATO Summit in Brussels, the U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis is to visit the Republic of Croatia.

On the occasion of the official visit of Secretary of State Mattis the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister  Damir Krstičević and the Defence Minister of Montenegro will  chair the Special U.S  Adriatic Charter Defence Ministers Meeting to be held in Zagreb on  13 July 2018.

The meeting will gather defence ministers and other senior officials of the U.S. – Adriatic Charter nations, to  discuss the enhanced presence of the United States in southeast Europe, the steps to take to speed up the integration of the remaining aspirants from the region to NATO, the security situation in the region and shared burden of defenc e investments between the United States and Europe.

The U.S.-Adriatic Charter is a  regional partner initiative launched by Croatia, Albania, Macedonia and the United States in 2003,and joined by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro in 2008. The key objective of the initiative is to provide support to the Euro-Atlantic processes in Southeast Europe and to bring about the integration of all NATO member states.
