U. S. Senator Robert Corker visits Ministry of Defence

The Croatian Defence Minister Josip Buljević on 15 February 2016 received the visit from the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Robert Corker during his two-day visit to Croatia following the Munich Security Conference.

Minister Buljević and Senator Cocker discussed the bilateral relations, primarily from the perspective of security and defence, the global security and political situation and the situation in Southeast Europe.

The two sides highlighted the excellent defence co-operation as one of the most intense bilateral domains, as well as the need to intensify the co-operation in defence capabilities.

Minister Buljević informed Senator Corker on the main activities and priorities of the Ministry of Defence in the near future.

The Minister also reiterated Croatia’s commitment to the strengthening of the stability of Southeast Europe through the support to the aspirant countries from the region.

The two sides stressed the importance of developing the required defence capabilities of the Alliance, the member nations’s resilience strengthening and the need for abandoning the Soviet-made technology.

Expressing his appreciation for the meeting and discussion, Senator Corker praised Croatia’s contribution to security through NATO membership and participation in the peace operations.
