U.S. military chaplain visits Jackal Stone 12
A military chaplain, Captain Phillip Kaim, who together with the American forces participate in the Jackal Stone exercise led the Holy Mass today, September 23, in the chapel “St. Archangel Gabriel” of the 93rd Air Base Zemunik.
Phillip Kaim is a chaplain of the 352nd group for special operations. He came to Zemunik from England where he has been in service, and he also participated in the last year’s Jackal Stone exercise in Romania.
To go with the soldiers on the ground, on the military exercise is a challenge for him, but also an opportunity to get to know “his” soldiers. “I see them in the base, but here on the exercise they are in their working conditions. This way I can get to know them better and I have more time for their life stories, for talk about their needs, and internal struggles”.
As a military person, besides the course for chaplain, he graduated from the officer’s school.
He reminds that it is a great honour and a challenge to work with Special Forces: They are spear, striking force, the closest to the battle, and for them a spiritual power is very important”.
He is in Croatia for the first time. With his fellow, military chaplain of the 93rd Air Base Zemunik Ivo Topalović he visited Zadar. He liked very much that what he saw. He says that many of the exercise participants share his opinion and he believes that many of them with their families will come to Croatia on holidays. At the end of the conversation, the chaplain granted us a God’s blessing.
