U.S. Navy ship visits Croatian Navy

Warship of the 6th U.S. Navy Fleet “USS The Sullivans” DDG-68 will visit Lora Naval Base (Split) from 30 November to 3 December 2011.

During the visit, representatives of the Navy will meet with the crew of the American warship and with the U.S. naval military attaché, Lieutenant Commander Robert D. Woods. Commander of the “USS The Sullivans” warship Commander Derick S. Armstrong and the crew will held a lecture for members of the Croatian Navy on the tactical operations of maritime boarding, demonstrate equipment for interception and boarding, and present their experiences in fighting against piracy and ballistic missile defence capabilities. In the practical part of the joint training, Croatian Navy Flotilla will participate with the boarding team, landing ship “Cetina” (DBM-81) and a rubber boat with counter mine divers.

The last visit of the “USS The Sullivans” destroyer of Arleigh Burke-Class to Croatian Navy and the city of Split was in January 2007.
