U.S. ship “Mount Whitney” visits Croatian Navy and Dubrovnik
The flagship of the 6th Fleet of the Navy of the United States “Mount Whitey” will visit the city of Dubrovnik and the Croatian Navy (HRM) from 5 to 9 May 2011.
During the visit, meeting of representatives of the American warship, the Croatian Navy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and visit to the city of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik-Neretva County was scheduled.
Navy delegation led by the Chief of Staff of the Croatian Navy, Captain Predrag Stipanovic will also visit the ship “Mount Whitney”.
The USS Mount Whitney flagship is 195 meters long, 33 meters wide, 9.3 meters draft and 18,000 tons of load capacity, it has the option of boarding the helicopter and the entire command with the necessary command and communications elements. “Mount Whitney” has been commissioned to the U.S. Navy since 1971, while the flagship of the 6th Fleet became in the 2005. The last visit of the “Mount Whitney” ship to the Croatian Navy was in December 2010 when the ship was in North port in Split.
