USS Missile Destroyer visiting Croatian Navy
The USS Stout (DDG-55), a 6th U.S. Navy Fleet destroyer arrived to the Lora Navy Port in Split on 17 February 2014, on a visit to the Croatian Navy until 21 February, as a bilateral activity with the U.S. Armed Forces. The crew has 278 officers and seamen, under the command of Commander Robert Alpigini.
The activitiy entails a visit to the Croatian Navy and the town of Split, formal receptions by the military and civilian officials, the reciprocal visits of the Destroyer and of the Croatian Navy vessels by the members of the two Navies and a reception of the Destroyer Commander at the Croatian Navy Flotilla.
The USS STOUT (DDG-55) is a destroyer of the Arleigh Burke class, with length 154m , width and draught 11m, and has been in operational use since 1994. Its homeport is in Norfolk, Virginia.
It is one of the U.S. Navy ships that boast state-of-the art equipment for operating against air, sea-surface and coast targets, and also controls the sea traffic and takes part in international military exercises.
On 19 February 2014 a reception for media representatives will be organised by the U.S. Embassy on board of the destroyer.
