Vukelic received the EU Military Committee Chairman General Syren

Defence Minister Branko Vukelic, on Friday, September 10, had talks on the subject of European defence and security policy and the situation in the region with the Chairman of European Union Military Committee, General Hakan Syren.

On this occasion, both sides agreed that Croatia even now in the status of candidate country for full membership in the European Union contributes to security and defence policy of the European Union, including the active engagement of members of the Croatian Armed Forces in the EU and NATO peacekeeping missions. Vukelic also noted that the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces participate in the preparation of the European Battle Group (EUBG), led by Germany.

Vukelic and Syren also discussed the situation in the region and the role of the European Union and Croatia in the further stabilization of the entire region. At the end of the meeting, General Syren thanked for the contribution of members of the Croatian Armed Forces in peacekeeping operations.
