“Wings of Storm” honour 100th Anniversary of the Swiss Air Force
“Wings of Storm”, the aerobatic team of the 93rd Air Base Airplane Squadron took part in the “Air 14 Payerne” show held near Bern, Switzerland to mark the 100th anniversary of the Swiss Air Force.
It has been the Croatian team’s 102nd performance in a 9-year period, and their flying the Swiss type of aircraft (the Pilatus) won special attention of the spectators.
The Team Leader, Major Matija Vrđuka made his 101st appearance in the Team at the Air Show while the rest of the group is composed of Major Nenad Hasnek (left wing, 96 performances) and Captain Josip Čolak (Right Wing, 18 performances), Captain Edvard Krišto (tail end, 77 performances), Captain Božen Tadić (2nd left wing) and Captain Siniša Hucika (2nd right wing , 61 performances).
Following the team’s return to Zemunik on Monday 1 September 2014, Major Vrđuka announced another international event – in Hradec Kralove, the Czech Republic, scheduled on 6-7 September 2014, where the team will be displaying for the third time already.
The new group member is Captain Ivan Anđić, succeeding Major Hasnek, who is to attend the Command and Staff School, and he has been preparing for performance with the Team for a year; furthermore, the Team Commentator, 1st Lieutenant Darko Belančić, has entered the aerobatic training programme to take up a position in the Team.
