Wings of Storm win the Czech International Air Fest

The Croatian Air Force and Air Defence’s Airplane Squadron’s „Wings of Storm“ Aerobatic Team won the prize for  the best performance at the Czech International Air Fest in Hradec Kralove on 5 – 6 September 2014.

On the return to the Zemunik Base, the Team members were welcomed by the Commander of the 93rd Base, Lieutenant Colonel Karol Lučan, who congratulated them on the superb performance. “We are proud of  your performances and the impression you make on air show spectators and expert observers, who rate highly your complex display programme.  I am confident that the Team will confirm its place among the top aerobatic teams in the new composition as well”, said the Commander.

The performance at Hradec Kralove has been the «Wings of Storm»’s third display at the Czech International Air Fest and also their 23rd international performance.

The Team displayed for the last time in the current composition: Team Leader, Major Matija Vrđuka (103 performances), Major Nenad Hasnek (left wing, 98 performances) and Captain Josip Čolak (Right Wing, 20 performances), Captain Edvard Krišto (tail end, 79 performances), Captain Božen Tadić (2nd left wing, 67 performances) and Captain Siniša Hucika (2nd right wing , 63 performances). Major Hasnek will attend the Command and Staff School and will be replaced by Captain Ivan Anđić. Likewise, the Team Commentator, 1st Lieutenant Darko Belančić has entered the aerobatic training programme to take up a position in the Team.
