Croatian Air Force pilots – “Our greatest motivation is knowing we can help the most vulnerable”

Aircrew from the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Wing successfully completes emergency medical evacuation of a child from Dubrovnik to Split

On the evening of 11 April 2025, an aircrew from the Croatian Air Force carried out an emergency medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) of a critically ill child from Dubrovnik General Hospital to the University Hospital Centre Split.

The mission was executed by a crew from the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron, part of the 93rd Air Force Base. The team received the request for urgent medical transport at 19:45, and the mission commenced at 20:23.

The helicopter landed at the helipad of Dubrovnik General Hospital at 21:10, where the patient was safely taken on board. The crew then proceeded to Split, landing at the helipad of the University Hospital Centre Split at 22:20.

With the successful landing in Split, the medical evacuation was completed, once again demonstrating the readiness, capability, and reliability of the Croatian Air Force in executing complex emergency missions in support of the national healthcare system.

Following the mission, the crew emphasised that such tasks, while challenging, are deeply rewarding: “These missions are demanding, but they’re what motivate us the most. Knowing that our actions directly help save lives—especially those of the most vulnerable—is the greatest motivation we could ask for.”
