Seminar on NATO-EU relations

MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic has been in visit to NATO Headquarters Land Forces in Madrid on April 15, where he met the Commander, Lieutenant General Alfredo Cardona Torres and his associates.

The second day of his visit to the Kingdom of Spain, MOD State Secretary Simunovic will attend a seminar on the relationship between the EU and NATO at the invitation of Secretary General for Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Spain Luis Cesta Civis and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo. Seminar was initiated by the EU Spanish Presidency as a contribution to the development of further relations between NATO and the European Union. Cooperation between NATO and the EU has been recognized as one of the key factors for the development of European defence and security, and the seminar was designed as a platform for discussion on further cooperation between NATO and the EU on the development of defence capabilities. Also, the seminar will serve as a forum for discussion on achieving further synergies between defence activities of NATO and the EU in crisis management, development of civilian and military capabilities and to involve the defensive dimension of the EU in developing of a new strategic concept of NATO.
