Austrian Minister of Defence visits MOD
Defence Minister Branko Vukelic received today, September 16, on working visit Minister of Defence of the Republic of Austria Norbert Darabos, who has been in official visit to Croatia and the Croatian Armed Forces.
On this occasion, the Minister of Defence Branko Vukelic emphasized that cooperation in the defence field of the two countries is extremely good, and that in various areas there is space for the qualitative upgrading. “The successful cooperation between the two countries takes place in areas of special units, training and logistic support and participation in UNDOF international peacekeeping mission on the Golan Heights, in which participate Croatian and Austrian armed forces”, Minister Vukelic said. He stressed that during the working meeting it was noted that cooperation in the region was a strong contribution to stability. Also, Minister Vukelic expressed gratitude to the Austrian colleague on support on the Croatian EU accession process.
In his speech Minister Darabos said that the Austrian Government and the Ministry very appreciated the participation of the Croatian Armed Forces in peacekeeping missions and Croatian contribution to global security. He also stressed that the two countries had very high-quality cooperation in the defence field, which takes place on several levels, and that Croatia could still expect Austrian support in its accession to the EU.
