Members of the engineer regiment of the Army assist the City of Vukovar

Members of the engineer regiment of the Army have started today, on Tuesday, 5 October 2010, to assist the City of Vukovar, by clearing and partial removing of war-damaged buildings, repair of gravel road in a distance of 3 kilometres and by rebuilding of pavements in a distance of 2.5 kilometres.

It is an activity conducted according to the Agreement of the Ministry of Defence and City of Vukovar, and part of the engineering training. In these activities, which are expected to last one month, one engineer platoon with 30 members of the Croatian Armed Forces and the necessary machinery has been involved.

Except for military purposes, the engineering units of the Croatian Armed Forces have been engaged for the civil structures on the entire Croatia’s territory and the priority in assistance to civil structures have the areas of special state concern.

Members of the engineer regiment took part this year, among other things, in activities to help against the flood in the Brodsko-posavska, Osjecko-baranjska and Zagrebacka County.
