Bozinovic with representatives of the Afghan ministries
Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic met, during the IDEX fair in Abu Dhabi, the representatives of the Afghan Ministry of Defence and Interior – Deputy Minister of Defence General Hamayun Fauzi, Deputy Interior Minister General Abdul Rahman Rahman, and representatives of the Staff of the Afghan army and their associates.
Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic emphasized Croatian contribution to the ISAF mission, particularly related to training of the Afghan National Army, while stressed that Croatia was ready to provide training of helicopter pilots and technical staff. Bozinovic also said that Croatia was ready to donate a quantity of used personal weapons and military equipment to ANA, but also mentioned that there were possibilities of equipping the ANA with new products of the Croatian military industry.
General Fauzi on behalf of the Afghan side expressed appreciation to Croatia which, as a relatively small country, has been providing support to Afghanistan, stressing that progress in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan was visible. Fauzi expressed interest in the products of the Croatian military industry, but also said that the preconditions for the start of projects relating to infrastructure development in Afghanistan, such as rail transport, were created.The meeting from the Croatian side, besides Defence Minister Bozinovic, was also attended by Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Slavko Baric, State Secretary of Ministry of Economy Rudjer Friganovic, Director of Alan Agency Ivica Nekic, Director of Industry Sector of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Zoja Crnecki, and representatives of Croatian Chamber of Commerce from Kabul.
On this occasion, Minister Bozinovic got a medal ‘Symbol of Honour of the National Police of Afghanistan’ for their efforts in expanding the good cooperation between Croatia and Afghanistan, particularly between the ministries of defence and interior, which was handed by representatives of the Afghan ministries of defence and police.
