Armed incidents around and in KAIA airport in Kabul
In the wider area around the international airport in Kabul (KAIA) and in the airport itself, today, Wednesday, 27 April 2011, in the morning hours, Croatian time, there were two major armed incident in which a total of eight people were killed – six members of the ISAF forces, a member of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and one civilian, while at the same time nine ANA members were wounded.
Members of the Croatian Armed Forces – a total of 12 (ten members of the helicopter mentor team and two members of staff personnel) who have been deployed in Kabul at the location of the KAIA airport are well and did not participate in these events and were not in immediate danger.
According to currently available information, in the first incident that was recorded this morning, a group of rebels attacked members of the ISAF and ANA in a wider ring around the KAIA airport, killing six members of the ISAF and one civilian, and five ANA members were wounded. In another incident that occurred at the KAIA airport in conflict among ANA members, a member of the ANA Air Force killed one and wounded four of his colleagues.
