Croatian-US OMLT farewell ceremony

A farewell ceremony of the 5th multinational OMLT which is to be sent to ISAF mission in Afghanistan has been held today, September 21, in Pleso barracks. This is an operational and mentoring liaison team that will train members of the Afghan National Army, composed of 15 members of the Croatian Armed Forces and 12 members of the Minnesota National Guard.

Commander of the Croatian-US OMLT is CAF Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Hemetek. The team will be deployed in ISAF for 9 months, in the Regional Command North in Mazar-e-Sharif. Members of CS OMLT had pre-deployment training in the U.S. Army Hohenfels Complex, in Germany, and on the CAF military training ground “Gasinci”.

Members of the CS OMLT were addressed by the Commander of the CAF Command Operations Center Brigadier General Vlado Sindler and the U.S. military attaché to Croatia Colonel Calvin Carlsen. Noting the importance of the CS OMLT would have within ISAF, Sindler and Carlsen emphasized the great importance and prominence of the mentors’ team in the overall defense cooperation between Croatia and United States.
