NATO ships visits Croatia
In the framework of international military cooperation of the Croatian Navy, a group of NATO MCM ships (Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 – SNMCMG2) composed of 5 ships, and command ship TCG “Hasanpasa” (The Navy of the Republic of Turkey) and 4 minesweeper TCG “Akcay” (The Navy of the Republic of Turkey) ESPS “Duero” (the Navy of the Kingdom of Spain), ITS “NUMANA” (the Navy of the Italian Republic) and FGS “Bad Bevensen” (Navy Federal Republic of Germany) has been visiting the Lora Naval Base in Split, from 6 to 12 October 2011.
During the visit, a group of NATO ships will carry out training activities through the theoretical part, related to the maritime situational picture, NATO procedures for search and rescue operations, humanitarian assistance, and other NATO procedures. On the practical training tat sea, which will participated by Croatian Navy ships as well, will be practiced joint manoeuvres and navigation and maritime communications in accordance with NATO standards and procedures. This is the second visit this year of a group of NATO ships to the Croatian Navy. In June 2011 Lora Naval Base was visited by four mine hunting / mine sweeper ship of NATO Mine MCM – HS “Calypso” (Greek Navy), ESPS “Sela” (Spain Navy), ITS “CHIOOGGIA” (Italian Navy), TCG “ENEZ “(Turkish Navy) and the flagship HS “Spétsai” (Greek Navy).
