Chief of CAF General Staff visited SHAPE

Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovric paid his first official visit  to the Allied Command Operations (SHAPE) on Thursday, November 10, in Mons, Belgium.

Chief of General Staff was received by the Commander of Allied Command Operations, and also the commander of the U.S. European Command (EUCOM), Admiral James Stavridis.
They discussed the situation in the region, with emphasis on operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo, the new NATO command structure and the participation of Croatian Armed Forces in the NATO Response Force (NRF). They also discussed future operations in Afghanistan, as well as the new NATO Strategy for Afghanistan. Admiral Stavridis thanked for the support provided by Croatia in NATO operations and with particular emphasis on high professional level of CAF.

General Lovric met Admiral Stavridis with the current situation in the Croatian Armed Forces with special emphasis on reform and modernization process and with building process of future CAF capabilities. At the end of his stay in Mons, general Lovric met with Croatian officers and NCOs who were assigned on duties at the Allied Command Operations and the Croatian military representation in SHAPE.

During his visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Drago Lovric also met in Brussels with the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Hakan Siren. The talks were also focused on the integration process and the inclusion of the Croatia in the work of the European Union, notably in the work of the EU Military Committee and in the work of subordinate bodies. They also discussed the Pooling and Sharing initiative of the European Union and the possibility of involvement of Croatia in this initiative, especially from the perspective of the entire region. During the meeting they exchanged opinions and experiences from past cooperation.
