Handover of duties at the Croatian Military Academy

A formal handover of responsibilities between the former director of the Croatian Military Academy “Petar Zrinski” Major General Mirko Sundov and his deputy and commander of the War College “Ban Josip Jelacic” Brigadier General Slaven Zdilar took place in the Officer’s Club of the Croatian Military Academy today, 14 November 2011.

The handover was attended by Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovric, school commanders, department heads and other employees of the Military Academy.

General Lovric thanked General Sundov on past work and contribution to the development of the armed forces and the Croatian Military Academy, and noted that the appointment of General Sundov to a new duty as military representative of the Croatian Armed Forces to NATO and the EU has been the result of his previous successful work. He also recalled that the military representative of Croatia to NATO from December 9 would represent Croatia in the European Union Military Committee as well, which is a new challenge that general Sundov will surely successfully respond to.

General Sundov in his speech referred to his previous work and on the work of the Croatian Military Academy and thanked all former and current members of the Military Academy for the cooperation and efforts.
At the end of the ceremony, General Zdilar also congratulated and thanked General Sundov on all the achievements in his career, and wished every success on the new duty.

Major General Mirko Sundov, by the decision of the President and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, upon the recommendation of the Minister of Defence and with prior consultation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, was appointed to the office of the military representative of the Republic of Croatia to NATO and the European Union. The appointment comes into force on 1 December 2011.
