Minister Kotromanovic visited Army Command

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanovic accompanied by Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovric, visited today, on Friday, 13 January 2012, the Command of the Croatian Army (HKoV) in Karlovac.

Besides the Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Slavko Baric, and Rear Admiral Zdenko Simicic, Minister Kotromanovic was also welcomed by the Army Commander Major General Dragutin Repinc. General Repinc met Minister Kotromanovic with the unit commanders, and presented the organization and deployment of the Army. Army Commander Major General Repinc presented personnel analysis by the standards of professional development for members of the Army, the situation regarding the equipping, modernization and infrastructure, participation of members of the Army in international military operations, as well as the priorities in the work of the Army in the coming period. During his presentation, General Repinc put special attention on the training, certification of units, activities to meet the Force Goals and preparations for the participation of the Army in a European Union Battle Group (EUBG).

Minister Kotromanovic thanked on the presentation, emphasizing that he has received a true and fair report on the activities of the Army, and stressed the importance of further improving the training and preparation of units for all tasks that would be required from them. Minister Kotromanovic said that the MOD would quickly develop the necessary changes to legislation in the field of defence, but also that the administrative part of the MOD should be faster, more efficient and support the activities and needs of the Armed Forces. He also announced that new structure of the MOD and General Staff has been developing which would lead to reducing of the administrative part of the whole system.

Apart from visiting the Army Command, Minister Kotromanovic visited the ‘Zrinski’ Officer’s Club and ‘Jamadol’ shooting facility in Karlovac.
