Minister Kotromanović received Ambassador of Hungary to Croatia

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović received today, on Wednesday, 25 January 2012, the Ambassador of Hungary to Croatia Gabor Ivan and Hungarian Defence Attaché to the Republic of Croatia Colonel Laszlo Hajas.

Ambassador Ivan congratulated Minister Kotromanović on his appointment and he conveyed greetings from the Hungarian Minister of Defence, as well as an invitation for visiting Hungary. Minister Kotromanović thanked for the congratulations, but also for the support Hungary provided to Croatia during accession negotiations as for NATO, the same for the EU membership.

During the talks, the level of cooperation achieved by the two countries on defence plans was highly appraised, particularly at expert level cooperation and cooperation within the ISAF and the UN mission in Cyprus. It was also concluded that the cooperation at the technical level was very good, but there is room for further advancement.

Minister Kotromanović stressed the importance of Hungary’s commitment to fostering stability in the region, concluding that Croatia will continue to support all countries in achieving their Euro-Atlantic goals as a strong contribution to understanding and stability in the region. It was concluded that Croatia and Hungary in the region have not only interests but also responsibility for the situation.

The Minister informed the Hungarian Ambassador on the plans of the Ministry of Defence in implementing the restructuring and the adoption of strategic documents and legislation in the field of defence as an important step in further improving the defence system.
