CAF involvement on the ground
Regarding the activities of eliminating the consequences of snowfall in Dalmatia, four trucks of the Armed Forces (CAF) for delivering food and other necessities in Vrgorac, Imotski and Trilj and four CAF machines for snow clearance have been engaged today, February 9, on the roads: Cista Provo – Imotski, Cista Provo – Aržano and Kistanje-Đevrske.
In the area of Vrgorac and Drniš two teams with eight members each of the Special Operations Battalion (BSD) with two motor sledges and other personal equipment for operating in winter conditions, have been engaged on touring the inhabitants of cut off villages and for supplies delivering, and possibly extraction of patients from the area.
Also, in the Divulje Base, one helicopter of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defense has been prepared for the eventual urgent medical evacuation.
Since the beginning of the engagement of CAF Task Force (NOS) in eliminating the consequences of snowfall in Dalmatia, 4 February 2012, there were more than 260 CAF members and fifteen different vehicles and machinery of the Croatian Armed Forces used, who have been engaged over 400 hours and where they spent about 3000 liters of fuel.
