Ministry of Defence sent helicopter and eight members of the Armed Forces for providing humanitarian assistance to Montenegro

At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, the Croatian Government, with the consent of the Croatian President, made a decision on the participation of the Armed Forces in providing humanitarian assistance to Montenegro.

Based on that decision today, Friday, February 17, at 15:59, one helicopter of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Mi-8 MTV-1 with eight members of the Croatian Armed Forces, which comprise two helicopter crews, were sent from Divulje Base to Montenegro.

Members of the Armed Forces who were sent to Montenegro were trained to fly in snowy conditions, for search and rescue, and it is expected that they will primarily transport people and goods, in order to eliminate the effects of snow storms in the neighbouring country.

Helicopter landed in the “Golubovci” Airbase in Podgorica at 17:20 where the crew was welcomed by the Minister of Defence of Montenegro Boro Vučinić and the Croatian Ambassador to Montenegro, Petar Turković.
