Annual briefing for the diplomatic-military corps

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović and Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić met today, 3 April 2012, at the Croatian Military Academy, with members of the military diplomatic corps, military attaches accredited in the Republic of Croatia, and presented the main guidelines of work and major projects of the Ministry of Defence in the near future.

In his lecture Minister Kotromanović pointed out that we have been facing significant work to further the development of defence system. “Permanent changes in the strategic context, such as integration into NATO and the European Union and the financial crisis significantly determined the direction of defence reforms”, the Minister said, and continued, “Earlier this year we started with creating a whole set of documents in the field of defence with the clear aim of improving our work. We will continue the process of the transformation towards a modern, efficient and affordable system”.

Speaking to military envoys, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Lovrić said: “The Croatian Armed Forces have passed demanding transformation throughout its history. During the nineties we were the one that needed help, and now we help to others. It is our intention to continue on that path. I am proud because CAF with every day is more professional”.

At the end of the presentation on behalf of the diplomatic-military corps, Brigadier General Manfred Sulzgruber thanked for the presentation and wished success in the reforms. He emphasized a good reputation of Croatian soldiers in international missions and expressed the belief that such successfully operation would continue in the future.
