Commander of the 19th HRVCON received Afghan Colonel Samuiddin
Commander of the 19th Croatian contingent (HRVCON) in ISAF Colonel Tomislav Galić met on Tuesday, 12 June 2012, in Kabul, the Deputy Commander of the 3rd Brigade of the 209th Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA), Colonel Samuiddin.
This brigade, which is located in northern Afghanistan, has been mentored by members of the 19th HRVCON deployed into five Operational mentoring liaison teams (OMLT).
Commander of the 19th HRVCON met Colonel Samuiddin with the life and work of members of the Croatian Armed Forces in Afghanistan. “We are a small country with a relatively small contingent in your country, but we are people with big hearts, with a mission and a desire to help”, Colonel Galić said and expressed satisfaction that the Afghan side recognizes these aspirations.
Colonel Samuiddin thanked the members of the 19th HRVCON for all the efforts and assistance provided to ANA and for understanding they have been showing for the Afghan people. “Efforts of the Croatian mentors result in building and strengthening of the Afghan Security Forces. We are grateful to you for the help”, he said, stressing in particular the contribution of Croatian mentors who mentored 1st and 4th Battalion of the 3rd Brigade. He also thanked Colonel Galić on the occasion to visit the first time one Contingent Command, especially when it comes to the Croatian contingent with whose members they cooperate closely.
The meeting was also attended by Colonel Branko Tićac, a mentor of Brigadier Samuiddin in the 3rd Brigade of 209th ANA Corps.
