Coast Guard search for missing crew member of a merchant ship
At the request of the National Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC Rijeka), two aircraft of the Croatian Coast Guard, Pilatus PC-9, have involved today in the afternoon, in search for missing crew member of the merchant ship “Gallia” sailing under the flag of Liberia.
Merchant ship was sailing from the port of Limassol to port of Trieste. Besides the two aircraft of the Croatian Coast Guard, the search operation also joined one Coast Guard aircraft ATR-42 of the Italian Republic. The area being searched is in the separated sailing zone southwest of the island of Palagruža.
This is the first time that planes of the two Coastal Guards jointly participate in search and rescue operation at sea.
