Brigadier General Zdravko Klanac took office of VSOA director
The official handover of the Director of Military Intelligence Agency (VSOA) took place on Tuesday, July 17.
The new VSOA Director was appointed Brigadier General Zdravko Klanac, after the former director Lieutenant General Darko Grdić ended his mandate.
VSOA Director is appointed for a term of four years by co-signing of the Prime Minister and President of the Republic of Croatia, on the recommendation of the Minister of Defence and upon the opinion of the Parliamentary Committee for Internal Policy and National Security.
New Director of the Military Security Intelligence Agency Brigadier General Zdravko Klanac was born on 8 March 1963. He has been a member of the Armed Forces since 1991 and participant of the Homeland War. During service in the Armed Forces, he was, among others, Commander of the 114th Brigade of the Army, Chief of Staff of the 9th Guards Brigade in Gospić, Head of Protocol of the Ministry of Defence, Commander of the Navy College in Split, the Secretary of the Defence Minister’s Cabinet, and his last duty – Commander of the CAF Personnel Management Centre.
He graduated from the Command and Staff College “Blago Zadro”, War College “Ban Josip Jelačić”, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Forth Leavenworth USA, and in 2005 and 2006 he participated in the UN peacekeeping mission in Ivory Coast.
He was awarded with the Homeland War Memorial, Homeland Gratitude Memorial, Order of the Croatian Trefoil and medals “Summer 95” and “Storm”.
