Canadair extinguished fire at five locations today

Five fire-fighting aircraft Canadair CL-415 of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence from the composition of CAF Fire-fighting Task Force (CAF FF TF) today, 23 July 2012, till 15.00 hours were involved at five fire sites in the coastal areas.

During the morning three aircraft Canadair CL-415 extinguished the fire between Bikarac and Donje Polje, 4 km southeast of Šibenik. Then all three were diverted to the fire site near Perković (Šibenik-Knin County). Two aircraft were returned to the fire site between Bikarac and Donje Polje, and the third was routed to the new fire site north of Medulin. After 14.00 hours it was joined by another Canadair CL-415.

One Canadair CL-415 flew at 13.30 hours at the fire scene near Babino Polje on the island of Mljet. Also, one Canadair CL-415 flew at 14.00 hours on the fire site near Selce, but could not be engaged because of the strong wind, it joined Canadairs at the fire site near Medulin.

CAF FF TF aircraft from the beginning of fire-fighting season, from 15 May 2012 to date, have been engaged in 109 fire-fighting activities. During the same period last year, CAF FF TF aircraft were involved in 62 different fire-fighting activities.
