Visit of Turkish ship to Croatian Navy
In the frame of the bilateral military cooperation between the Croatian Navy and Navy of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish ship “Hasanpasa” has been visiting Split Naval Base from 25 to 28 July 2012.
This is a school ship that is intended for the training of naval officers and to maintain the tradition. School ship “Hasanpasa” is a former ship “Elbe A-61” of the German Navy, the “Rhein” class, which when it was received by the Navy of the Republic of Turkey in 1990 was transformed to the school ship. Currently the ship has onboard about 200 cadets who have been sailing through the Mediterranean, and after a visit to the Croatian Navy and Split, the school ship continues to sail to Italy.
Training ship “Hasanpasa” develops a speed of 20 knots, has 2940 tons displacement, and about 340 crew members (officers, NCOs, cadets and military officers). The ship is in the service from 14 April 1962.
This ship, as the part of the NATO maritime group, visited the Croatian Navy also in October 2011.
