“Udar 12/1” military exercise began
The field part (In Fields) of the military exercises “Udar 12/1” began today, 17 October 2012, at the military training of the Croatian Army “Eugen Kvaternik” near Slunj.
The three-day exercise began with the inspection (In Barracks) on October 16. The exercise is implemented under the organization of the Army Command and Guards Motorized Brigade (Gmtbr). Director of the exercise is Gmtbr Commander Colonel Boris Šerić, and his Deputy is Chief of Staff of the Army Colonel Tihomir Kundid. The exercise involved more than six hundred members of the Croatian Armed Forces.
The aim of the exercise is to evaluate the readiness of units declared for NATO operations in accordance with the Force Goals and NATO Integration Work Programme for 2012. The evaluation is conducted during military exercise, which scenario covers peace support operations, counterinsurgency operations and conventional military actions.
From the evaluated troops, 1st Gmtbr motorized battalion “Tigers” and two tactical teams for psychological operations (PSYOPS), have been under the certification process, and Demining Company and Company for Horizontal Constructions of the Engineering Regiment of the Army Training and Doctrine Command have been under the process of affirmation for NATO operations. The evaluation has been done according to the NATO CREVAL system by the certified Army evaluators under the supervision of the CAF General Staff evaluation team, as well as a team from NATO Force Command Madrid.
