Minister Kotromanović visits 20th HRVCON ISAF in Afghanistan
Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović with his associates paid a working visit, from 4 to 9 November 2012, to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and to the 20th Croatian contingent in the ISAF.
On the first day of his visit, the Minister was welcomed by the 20th HRVCON ISAF Commander, Colonel Željko Dadić at the KAIA airport in Kabul.
After touring the Croatian “Cobra” Camp at the Warehouse Camp, where the Contingent Headquarters have been situated, Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović met with the ISAF Deputy Commander in the ISAF HQ, British Lieutenant General Nick Patrick Carter and with the NATO Senior Civilian Representative, the Dutch Ambassador Maurits Jochems.
The talks on the meeting were on the current situation in Afghanistan, the transition process and its implementation and the current capabilities of Afghan Security Forces and its future. They also discussed the internal political situation in the country and the regional stability and development of capabilities of civilian institutions in Afghanistan, and the possibilities of the Croatian contribution to civil institutions.
The talks were also on the challenges of the allied forces by the end of 2014 and beyond, when the transition process should be completed.
General Carter and Ambassador Jochems concluded that the Croatian contribution was visible and of good quality, and that Croatia has a great role in the transition and support of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
